Dr. P. Syam Prasad is working as Professor at Department of Physics, National Institute of Technology, Warangal, Telangana, INDIA. He has received his MSc. (physics), MPhil (Glass science) and Ph.D. (Material sciences and Engineering), respectively. He possess more than 18 years of combined teaching and research experience in the field of physical sciences, in general, and glass science, in particular. His current research theme focuses on development and characterization of glasses and glass ceramics for photonic, electronic and biomedical applications. Nanostructured magnetic and thin film semiconductor devices are also being investigated in his research team. He has authored/co- authored good number of publications with very good impact factor in world prestigious journals as Colloids and surfaces B: Biointerfaces, Materials Chemistry and Physics, Materials Science and Engineering C, Journal of alloys and compounds, Ceramics International, Results in Physics, Materials, Optical Materials, Journal of Composite Science, Journal of Materials Research and Technology, Optik and many others. He has completed 6 and 2 ongoing R& D projects sanctioned by government of India. Currently 6 PhD students are working under his supervision and 3 students completed their PhDs under his guidance. He reviewed many papers in reputed research journals like Scientific reports, Spectroscopy Letters; Physica B: Condensed Matter Physics; Journal of Alloys and Compounds; Journal of American Ceramic Society; Journal of Molecular Liquids, Ceramic international, Optical materials, Bioactive materials etc.,. He has presented his research in the USA, Portugal, Hungary, Egypt, Slovakia, Switzerland, Austria and other countries in the world. He has also been awarded with various world prestigious fellowships as Erasmus Mundus - Heritage fellowship at Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST), Lisbon, Portugal during 2013 and 2014, The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic (NSP) fellowship at Alexander Dubcek University of Trencin, Slovakia in 2016, Austrian academy of sciences fellowship (OeAW International Incoming fellowship) at Erich Schmid Institute of Materials Science, Leoben, Austria in 2018, National polish government visiting scientist fellowship (Ulam-NAWA Visiting Scientist award) at AGH university of science and Technology, Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics, Krakow, Poland and Visiting Professor at Clinic for Chewing Function Disturbances and Dental Biomaterials, Center of Dental Medicine, University of Zurich, Switzerland under Swiss National Science Foundation
