I completed my PhD in the Department of Water Science at Institut national de la recherché scientifique (INRS), University of Quebec, Canada. My PhD research was on pre-treatment technologies (Ultrasonciation, Thermaland Fenton pre-treatment) to enhance anaerobic digestion efficiency based on energy (biomethane) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as criteria. In my research, I developed a novel methodology to quantify GHG emissions due to land application of sludge. A decision support system model (based on life cost analysis) was also developed to facilitate the decision makers, policy makers, municipalities, and engineers in adjudicating a pre-treatment/treatment technology for a wastewater treatment plant. During my academic training, I also worked on other projects: Mass-energy balance of the Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) production and recovery process, biodiesel production from wastewater sludge and potable water from wastewater treatment using membranes and EPS. Currently, I am working on a government funded research project (~100K$) as a Co_PI: “Development of Advanced Automatic Control based Wastewater Treatment Process towards Sustainable Water-Energy-Food Nexus”.

  • Lauréat pour le prix Nationale de l’innovationEni Award for “Microbial Fuel Cell: Synchronized Wastewater Treatment and Electricity Generation” in 2009.
  • All  India  196th rank  (out  of  ~10,000 students)  in  a nationwide Graduate  Aptitude  Test  in  Engineering  Entrance Examination (May 2005).
  • Merit Scholarship from Ministry of Human Resource and Development of India for pursuing  Masters of technology (M. Tech) Program in Environmental Engineering and Management at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India (July 2005-July 2007).
